Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. After her father left her family members, she was brought up by her mother, grandparents, and godparents. While she was a small girl, she was diagnosed with an obsessive compulsive disorder and suffered from anxiety because of the word"association. Ford began performing in her teens and became a member of the National Youth Theatre. Ford was accepted into the Sylvia Young Theatre School. After a couple of weeks, she realized Sylvia Young Theatre School was not the right place right for her. Ford rather than applying for admission to Central School of Speech and Drama and winning a placement at the third time she applied for and was awarded a place at Central School of Speech and Drama. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler as a regular character on Doctor Who. Ford was not able to finish her studies in 1993. However, in 1991, Ford had made her first appearance on TV in a show called Surgical Spirit. At that moment, Ford adopted the stage name Catherine Tate. Tate appeared in TV programmes including The Bill, Men Behaving Badly as well as London's Burning in the Nineties. The regular theatre work she performed led her to join the Royal Shakespeare Company, for the 2000-2001 Season. Tate was first noticed due to her stand-up comedy in the year 1996.
